Hello again Fellow Adventurer!
It seems like it’s been forever since I last wrote a newsletter. Well, what a time I’ve had of it! In the past few months I have:
Packed up and moved house (I now live about 35 km from where I did before and it’s bliss)
Unpacked said new place (keep reading for photos!)
Started a new full-time job
Left the full-time job and went back to freelancing (chocolates in disguise)
Spent a week in hospital (okay, so this sucked and was actual lemons)
The new job also meant that I commuted for 3 hours a day in the end since I moved after accepting the job (oops) and took home work just about every weekend. Apparently taking lunch in that place was also anathema. Yeah… I can see why I didn’t fit into the “workplace culture”. But, I guess it is a lot of story fodder… I’m now back to full-time freelancing and am definitely not looking back. Talk about toxic!
I have also barely worked on any fiction in the past two months, and have really missed it. My mental health has also suffered quite a bit in my opinion. I need a creative outlet that is not just crochet or knitting.
But now for some good news!
I have dubbed my new flat Bag End as it’s quite idyllic. There are even horses on the property! Plus it’s a lot quieter here than at the old place. I mean a LOT in caps and lights and everything. Plus, it’s close to a local zoo which means I literally hear lions at night and monkeys in the morning. And perhaps the best part of the wildlife here?
Fish eagles!
Yup, as in the eagles I use for the Tellerassar shape-shifters in The Ruon Chronicles. (Read more about the Tellerassar over here.)
Before I say goodbye (though only for a few days), here are some photos I’ve taken of the scenery at Bag End.
Love,
Carin
